Dear GRAND CHAMPION marching band member and parent,

Has a nice ring to it, eh???  Gotta luv it!!! Congratulations to EVERYONE in our band program for winning the “Grand Champion Band of the Day” last weekend in Southern Pines!!!  I cannot think of a more picturesque area of the state to win that title (I know, I’m slightly biased - FORE!).  Thank you for all your hard work, your time, and your love.  What a terrific program we enjoy here at Athens Drive!
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with information concerning our home football game this Friday and the Wakefield H.S. Competition this Saturday.

Important Competition Day Logistic
  1. Students must wear their blue show tee shirt under their uniform on Saturday.
  2. Make sure that you eat a healthy lunch before our afternoon rehearsal and consider bringing a healthy snack with you to Wakefield.  We’ll have light snacks and water before our performance as well.
  3. We enthusiastically invite all parents, family, and friends to travel to Wakefield to enjoy our performance and route on our CHAMPION band! YOUR PRESENCE MAKES A DIFFERENCE!
Other Noteworthy Items:
  1. There will be no marching rehearsals for woodwinds and brass next Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 5-6 due to the Chamber Concert.
  2. Our annual Chamber Concert will be held Thursday, October 6th in our auditorium at 7:30pm.  It is a FREE concert and features our entire Wind Ensemble and many members of our Symphonic Band.  You’ll enjoy a rich variety of music and all types of instrumentation, from solos, to section features, to brass and woodwind choirs, to a finale featuring our entire Wind Ensemble.  All non-performers will receive “extra credit” for attending.  Come hear your seniors and section leaders make some very impressive music!  Plus, it’s FREE and REFRESHMENTS will be served afterwards☺
Hope to see you this weekend at Wakefield!  Ya’ll sit together and build that BLUE WALL of crazy band parents cheering on our kids!!
