The purpose of this letter is to provide you with information concerning the Homecoming Football Game this Friday and the South Brunswick H.S. Competition in Southport N.C. this Saturday.

But first of all we gotta EAT…

Then we play…

Halftime Performance                            @8:00pm
Dismissal (at flagpole near band room)    9:45pm

Students will be wearing their full uniform for this game.  They may wear any TEE SHIRT underneath the jacket--no tank tops!  As we will be wearing our blue show shirt under our uniform tomorrow, I would suggest not wearing the blue show shirt for this performance (unless you want to wash it Friday evening). Woodwinds and brass will need their flip folders and lyres; all students should bring a small amount of money for drinks/snacks following their performance.
Students taking the SAT on Saturday may leave after halftime.  Our field crew parents will be bringing the front ensemble instruments back to the band room and these students may go with them.

Important Competition Day Logistics
  1. Students must remain on campus between our rehearsal and inspection; there will not be enough time for students to safely leave campus.   PLEASE BRING A LUNCH!!!
  2. The students will be wearing their uniform shoes, black socks, bibs and blue show shirt for the bus ride to Southport.
  3. The boosters will provide a meal for the students when they arrive on the campus of South Brunswick H.S.
  4. Before we leave SBHS, students may change into more comfortable clothes for the bus ride home (your choice).  If possible, students are encouraged to wear a lightweight type of shorts under the uniform so they may change out of the uniform outside near our trucks.
  5. Our boosters will provide a light snack for the students’ ride back to Raleigh.
  6. If you are planning to attend the show and would like to drive your child home, please submit a written request.  In general, I like to keep the students together throughout the entire event; however, I will trust your judgment if you feel it absolutely necessary for your child to be home earlier.
And finally…We need parents to help with assembling/dissembling/moving/loading props and equipment on Saturday morning!!!

Everyone seems to enjoy watching a marching band with cool props that accentuate the “theme” of the program!  However, it takes a small army of parents to make this type of program work!  WE NEED YOUR HELP!!  Trust me, it will make the entire day more enjoyable for you!  You can even turn it into a family affair!  Everyone can help… mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, long lost relatives, neighbors, etc.
Please contact Corey Benson at vpoperations@athensdriveband.com if you can help and he’ll send you the info.
With the hot air balloon and baskets, we can promise you an “uplifting experience!”

It’s going to be a busy weekend - but oh so fun!!!  Thank you for everything that you do for your kids and this program!
