First marching rehearsal reminders from Doc

It’s February! Time for Marching Band!!! (That is something I never thought I would be saying…lol)

Here’s a quick set of guidelines/reminders for tomorrow:

  1. Bring and wear a mask! We are going to encourage everyone to wear a mask as much as possible - even outdoors! Although I will be issuing instrument performance masks, students should use other masks when not playing.
  2. Maintain social distancing 6’ apart as much as possible throughout the rehearsal. In this way we prevent “the spread.”
  3. Everyone checks in outside the band room tomorrow! We will start health screening at 2:30pm. Do your best to be on time (which is early). Everyone must get health screened after which they will receive a wrist band to wear so that we can make certain everyone has “passed.” You will also get a name tag to wear so we’ll know who you are. DON’T COME TO SCHOOL IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL, OR IF YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WITH COVID WITHIN THE PAST 14 DAYS.
  4. Dress comfortably/athletically but warmly as it will be COLD tomorrow!  Welcome to marching band in February…Ya gotta luv it! Wear head covering (especially cover those ears!) and tennis shoes. Bring hand warmers.
  5. Bring your instrument!  Section Leaders will provide you with marching music tomorrow.
  6. We are planning to spend our rehearsal outside in the senior parking lot tomorrow. We will march for the first hour (without instruments) and play for the second hour (with instruments). If it is just too cold to play outside, we might come inside the second hour and split up between the band room and chorus room. Percussion will go where John directs: Front ensemble outside the band room and battery in a location TBA.
  7. We are going to limit the number of students who need to be in the building as much as possible. We understand that students who play very large instruments (sousaphones) will need to come into the building as well as section leaders will need to get materials for their section. Bottom line, if you do not need to come into the building, don’t. It’s just safer for everyone.

I can’t wait to see all of you again!!!
