First of all, I want to THANK YOU all of you for your time, effort and love that went into making this past weekend’s PERFORMANCE IN DANVILLE a reality.   It was a wonderful performance in every way!  I am humbled by the efforts of our uniform committee to outfit 150 students of all shapes and sizes, our operations crew dealing with everything from props to renting/driving trucks, our “chuck wagon crew” feeding all our students and chaperones in a timely fashion, and so many other parents some of whose efforts I’ll never realize!  We have such a great organization and did our band, our school, and our community very proud on Saturday - as well as at the last 2 football games!

In terms of scoring, we did really well!  Our Drum Majors Malakhi Smith and Tyrone Williamson won DRUM MAJORS OF THE DAY!  We  won SECOND PLACE OF THE DAY in the categories of MUSIC AND PERCUSSION.  We came in THIRD PLACE OF THE DAY in GUARD.  In the categories of marching and general effect we finished fourth and fifth place of the day respectively.  This was out of 18 bands!  It is important that we keep the big picture in mind!  This was a big show and our kids did really well.  We know we can make our performance even better and that is what we will work toward in the weeks ahead.  In fact, this is why receiving critique is really great… we want to improve!  We want to be the best we can be!

We deserve a FREE WEEKEND and we’ve got that coming!  YAY!  Rest up and enjoy your family!  Rest gives us the opportunity to refresh perspective and recharge our minds, body and spirit!

The following weekend (Oct. 6 & 7) will be very busy as we have our Homecoming Football Game and BAND BBQ on Friday and our Competition in Southport, NC (at South Brunswick HS) on Saturday.  OUR PERFORMANCE TIME IS 7:55.  This is a smaller show than Danville; however, there are 4 very fine bands in our class!  We’ve got our work cut out for us, but it’s all good!

Thank you again for all you do for this program and your child(ren)!
