We learned that the Rose Parade Committee wants a few “staged shots” of our marching band:  1) the band marching in a strong “block formation,” and 2) the band executing a right “gate turn,” known as “TV corner” in the Rose Parade.   These should be relatively easy to stage; however, it is CRITICAL THAT WE HAVE COMPLETE ATTENDANCE—INCLUDING BANNER CARRIERS!   The committee is very critical with regard to “holes” in the formation and any aspect that does not look uniform.

Thank you for accommodating this extra rehearsal session.  The short term  “payoff” is that we continue to get better through focused rehearsals.  The potential long-term payoff is astronomical!  This is a very difficult parade to win acceptance—arguably the most difficult in the world!  The potential benefit to our school and community is unprecedented in the Athens area.  Let’s keep reaching—you just never know…

The Apex Christmas Parade is somewhat unique in that it is held in the evening.  Parading at night through this charming town—with all its store lights and decorations aglow—is really COOL.  Our students love to march in this parade and we hope that you will consider coming out and enjoying the atmosphere!

Students are encouraged to consider adding lights to their instrument, provided that it does not interfere with performance.  Section leaders will work with sections to consider what might work.  Let’s GET LIT!!!  Also, you may wish to bring a luncheon-type snack after our afternoon recording session.   It’s a long afternoon/early evening!

The parade route begins near the corner of Apex Peakway and Salem streets, passes through the downtown area, and finishes at W. Moore Street.  The entire route is about ¾ mile in length.  Additional parade information can be found at apexrotary@gmail.com.

Special thanks!

I just wanted to take a moment to THANK YOU for the generous gifts presented at the banquet.  There are no words to describe the LOVE I have for all of you—I’ll just say that the love can be best expressed within the beautiful music and joyful spirit that we all enjoy!
