Pre Camp Reminder #2

The 2018-19 marching band season is only a few days away! Welcome to all new and returning students and their families as we embark on another incredible year of marching band! 

Band camp is an important, intensive, yet fun time for the marching band. During this week, students learn the music and maneuvers of the field show, experience the discipline required of a first-rate organization, and build lasting relationships.  Band Camp will be held in Rocky Mount, NC at Wesleyan College Sunday, July 29th through Friday, August 3rd, 2018.

Pre-camp will be held Monday, July 23rd through Thursday, July 26th from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

 Please let us know as soon as possible if your student will be unable to attend precamp. Please e-mail: president@athensdriveband.com with this information. 

Please plan to attend our Parent Pre-Camp Meeting on Tuesday July 24th at 6:45. We will provide information about Band Camp and answer any questions or concerns that you may have. 

Immediately following this meeting, please join us in the cafeteria for our annual Booster Fair, where you can find out all about our Band Booster/Parent organization and how to get involved with this wonderful band family.

FORMS DUE FIRST DAY OF PRE-CAMP (July 23, 2018) – Complete, print, and bring the following paperwork:

_____  Student's health insurance card – copy of front and back.  Please attach this to the WCPSS Parental Consent & Medical Information form

_____  WCPSS Student Photo Permission Form

_____ Pre-camp Parent Meeting - Tuesday, July 24th at 6:45 p.m.  See above for details
_____ Students – Band Camp Roommate Request Form:  Remember - only 2 students per room.  DUE WEDNESDAY night at the end of pre-camp – if students don’t know anyone, they can work with their section leaders to find roommates.  Forms will be available in the band room or online

_____ Payments - Please make sure your band account is current as of July 29. 

_____ Reusable Water Bottle (labeled with your name) – bring to ALL band practices.

_____ Donations:  Towels, sunscreen, bug spray.  Thanks!

We appreciate all of these parents for their dedication to making band camp possible and a great success!


Open Booster Positions
If you are looking for a way to get involved with the band, we are in need of chairs / co-chairs and trainees for the following booster committees.  Even if you’re new to the band, don’t be afraid to jump in!  Nervous about jumping in?  Grab a friend, or make a new one! The more involved you are, the more fun you’ll have!  


Program Support
Grants - Co-chair(s)- Searching for and applying to grants that enhance our program

Practice Field Support- Chair- Helping to maintain the practice field

PTSA Representative – Liaison between PTA and Band.

Cary Music & Arts Festival- Co-Chair- Represent the Athens Band in this community event by providing planning input and coordination between Athens Band and CMAF planners.

Senior Recognition –Co- Chair- Organize photos and Band student recognition for Senior Night

Senior Year End Video – Co-Chair – Helping to create a memorable video for the Seniors with highlights throughout the year.

Trip Planning – Chair - Planning of annual trips for band

Website – Helping to maintain, update our band website.
