With the start of school and marching band in full gear, it’s a busy time of year!  Please make time to attend our September Booster/Parent Meeting on Thursday, September 8 @ 7:30 pm in the band room.

Why should I go?  Booster/Parent meetings provide a great opportunity to find out what is happening in ALL the band programs at ADHS as well as to socialize with other band parents.

Who should attend?ALL Band parents are Boosters and ALL are encouraged to attend!  “Band” parents are anyone who has a student in any ADHS band program, including:

Marching Band - winds, percussion, and color guard (they may not play an instrument but they are definitely a critical part of the band!)

Concert bands - Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble that meet during school

Winter Percussion or Guard - They will be signing up before you know it!Jazz Band

How long will it last?  Meetings generally conclude between 8:30 and 9:00 pm.  Many parents stay a little later to socialize or conduct other band business.

How do I get an item on the agenda?  Email president@athensdriveband.com with any agenda items.

What’s on the agenda?  Every month, we’ll discuss the latest news from the Band Secretary, Treasurers, Presidents, and of course, Doc.  In addition, we’ll have information about how to participate in the season’s fundraisers and committees where we need leaders or additional help.

How do I find out about future meetings?  Mark your calendars now!  All the Booster Meeting dates are all on the Band Calendaron the band website.  Meetings are usually (but not always) the second Thursday of the month.  We will also send out a reminder email a few days before the meeting.

All the really involved parents seem to love it and have a ton of fun (yes, we do!)  How do I get more involved?  Just talk to one of the presidents and we’ll help you figure out where to best utilize your talents and gifts!  All are invited to join the fun and participate! With a band program of our size, it takes many moving parts to make it all work and when everyone does a piece, no one is overwhelmed.  Take a piece and join the fun!  Speaking of fun…

Socialize with us!  After the booster meetings, we continue the conversations and social hour at Carolina Ale House (corner of Tryon and Walnut).  All boosters are welcome to attend (everyone pays their own way).

See you Thursday night!
