4. STAY INVOLVED (We love having you around!)

Done with some of those band related items like marching shoes? Concert dresses? Your starter instrument? BandBay is a great way to directly sell those items to other Athens Band families - the audience most likely to purchase them. Simply scroll to the bottom of the BandBay page to list your band-related items that you no longer need.

Want to help or miss the fun and fellowship of working at the PNC?  State Fair Parking?  NC Football Club?  PARCC?  Alumni are always welcome to pick up a few shifts and work for one of your band friends or contribute your earnings to a family in need.  Remember all those Saturday marching band competitions? The band will inevitably have conflicts and really needs the support of alumni families to keep these fundraisers successful!

Did you use Grocery Cards or Scrip to earn money for your band account?  Don’t stop now!  Let your earnings help a friend, the general band fund, or a student in need.

Be sure to join current band families and alumni in September and in the spring for the Band BBQ.  There are plenty of ways to be involved in this band tradition – advertise to local businesses, help with deliveries, set up, serve, bake, or just join us for some fellowship and come eat!  Dates will be announced soon.

Additionally, please continue supporting our Let’s Eat! fundraiser. What better way to meet up with old friends, enjoy a meal AND help out the band?!?

Congratulations on your graduation and best of luck in your future endeavors! We will MISS YOU and would REALLY LOVE to keep in touch!

Band Camp Chaperones: July 29 - Aug 3

Band camp will be held from Sunday, July 29th through Friday, August 3rd at NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount! 

If you are interested in chaperoning the week at Band Camp this year, please send an email to president@athensdriveband.com no later than Monday, June 18th Even if you have already mentioned to one of us that you are interested in chaperoning, please remind us via email. 

There are many factors to consider when choosing chaperones, including number of student participants, seniority, experience chaperoning, and participation with the band.

Last Chance to Join the Major League!

Drum roll, please!..................  We have 146 on the Roster!!   

In case you didn't know the Marching Band Registration deadline has been extended to June 12th, 11:59pm!  After June 12th, Doc will have to submit FINAL numbers to the drill writer so he can get busy.  This is your last chance, don't be left out or miss this opportunity -- after June 12th, marching spots will be on an "as available" basis ONLY.  

Check with your friends to make sure they have registered!  Section leaders, it's a great time to touch base with potential freshmen, interested class band students, or previous marching students who aren't on the list.  

Be A Sport - join the Band Team!  This will be an incredible show with fantastic music!  And we all know Doc will have a few fun surprises!!  

Band camp, Friday night football, Saturday competitions, parades, and more!  It's going to be a memorable year!  Be A Sport, don't "ride the oak", you'll never regret it!  Be sure you're part of it!!  Are you on The Roster?

Marching Band Registration Extended

Dear Band Families,

Be A Sport!  The fantastic music will make for an entertaining and fun marching show theme.  And we all know Doc will have a few fun surprises!!

Marching Band Uniforms

Hello All,

Good luck to everyone with exams and many best wishes to our Seniors you head off to your next chapter in life.  But,  Before you all take off... 

Seniors, if you did not take your marching shoes please get them from the chalkboard area.  They are in bags with your name on them.  If you don't want them just leave for donations.  

All other marching band students, please get your marching shoes out of your uniform bags so they do not get moldy over the summer and then you may have to buy new shoes.  Uniform bags are either in your cabinet or on the shelves in the band hallway.

There are also zip lock bags with personal items that were left in your uniform bags such as pins.

Have a fantastic summer and see you pre-camp!

If you ever have any questions or you can help out with the uniform committee next season please contact us.  We would love help!

Marching Band Registration EXTENDED to June 8th

Dear Band Families,

Marching Band registration is now open. Please register your student for the 2018-19 Marching Band season as soon as possible. 

The deadline for registration is June 8TH. 

Besides registering, the following forms need to be completed and submitted to Doc no later than June 8. The school nurse must review all forms 30 days before pre-camp starts.

1.      WCPSS Parental Consent Medical Form

2.      Copy of Health Insurance Card- front back

3.      WCPSS Student Photo Permission Form

*4. The WCPSS High School Athletic Participation Forms- along with a doctor's physical needs to be turned into Doc before pre-camp.

SmugMug Gallery Updates - Latest & Greatest

Our Athens Drive Band SmugMug Gallery for 2017-2018 is almost complete.  The last gallery to go up will be for next Tuesday's graduation ceremony - be sure to look for the 2018 Graduation gallery under Special Events in SmugMug later!

All photos on SmugMug are free to download, just click the down arrow icon at the lower right of the picture to start the process.  We still do not have all the pictures from All District and All State.  If your student attended one of these honor bands and you have pictures, please let me know.  I can upload them to their galleries!

Thank you for a great and exciting year with you and your students!  Let me know if you would like to join the SmugMug team for 2018-2019 and help us capture more great memories!  In the meantime, in case you missed it, here are the latest...just click and go!

Register for Marching Band 2018-19

Dear Band Families,


 

It’s not too late! So far, we have more rising seniors in the band than any other class!  Will it stay that way?  Who will be the 150th student to register?  Only time will tell!  We'd love to be over 150 members..

 

The last day to register is tomorrow, FRIDAY, JUNE 1. For those of you who’ve registered, your WCPSS forms need to be turned into Doc for review by the school nurse as soon as possible.

 

Those forms are: 1) WCPSS Parental Consent & Medical form 2) WCPSS Student Photo Permission form 3) Copy of insurance card- front & back. 4) WCPSS High School Athletic Participation form. The forms can be found here. If you are still waiting to get your student’s physical completed, the WCPSS High School Athletic Participation Form can be turned in on the first day of pre-camp - July 23rd.

 

*Remember if your student already has a WCPSS Athletic Participation form completed and it is good through January 2019 you can submit that for the 2018-19 marching band season.

NCFC July Games Posted

Band Families,

The July games for the NCFC Fundraiser have been posted on the NCFC signup.  You may also reach the signup by clicking on the  orange "Volunteer Signups" button 
and scrolling down to the NCFC Signups link.  More information regarding the games can be found on the signup, and also by going to the NCFC webpage of the band's website.

Working these games together with family and friends is a great way to earn money for your band account(s), especially during the summer!  Each person earns $20 per person, per game, so a family of 4 can earn $80 for working a 4 hr game.

Don't wait too long to sign up - these spots can close quickly.  The July 21st game is already staffed, therefore will remain locked.  If we are notified that positions become available for that game, we will unlock the signup and send out a notice.  And, the July 4th game start time may change somewhat, so keep that in mind when signing up.  Those that sign up for that game will be notified if the time changes, and will have the opportunity to remove their name from the signup if necessary.  August games will be posted soon.
