Dewey's On Site Training

posted Oct 17, 2019, 4:25 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Oct 17, 2019, 4:26 AM ]

If you are signed up (or still plan to sign-up) to work at the Dewey’s store you MUST attend an on-site training session.
Please go to https://signup.com/go/OYsvQma to sign up - there are 6 training dates to select from.
The only exception is for multiple family members signed up to work the same shift, where one person may attend as a representative for the family.
You will receive a store handbook by email prior to your training session.

Where possible - please choose a date that has people signed up already - so we can cancel sessions that aren't needed. If you have any questions, please contact deweys@athensdriveband.com

Please remember that other fundraisers need your help NOW.  State Fair Parking and PNC still have a number of open shifts that need to be filled & will both fulfill your Fundraiser Service Commitment.
Please go to our website http://www.athensdriveband.com/home & select the orange volunteer button to sign up.

Thanks for all you do!

State Fair Starts Thursday--shifts still available!

posted Oct 13, 2019, 11:26 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Oct 13, 2019, 11:26 AM ]

Hello Band Families!

Fall is in the air and the State Fair starts THIS Thursday the 17th!  State Fair Parking is our BIGGEST fundraiser - it requires a lot of families to step in and get involved.

There are several openings throughout the week, a perfect way to put money in your band account.  Remember, each family is required to work 5 Service Credits.  So, if you haven’t earned your service credits yet, a single shift could credit either $75 (weekend) or $65 (weekday) to your account, up to 5 shifts!  Sweet way to pay down your account!

Click on the link below.....come on out....join the fun....pay your account!  Win-Win!
Athens Drive Fair Parking

REMEMBER:
1) Please cancel 48 hours before your shift. No shows will be charged back $30 in your band account.
2) Download REMIND APP for communications during your shift.

Any questions - contact statefairparking@athensdriveband.com

See you at the State Fair!

Pit Crew for Game Friday and Competition Saturday

posted Oct 8, 2019, 6:01 PM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Oct 8, 2019, 6:02 PM ]

Band Parents,

This week we have a game on Friday and a competition on Saturday.  Attendance and help last week was awesome – you guys are starting to make this look easy.

Hopefully we’ll have a little less mud this week - if you can help out, please join us we’ll have some fun and see a great show.

We’ll be in full uniform and all props for the game, so we’ll plan on loading the props on Friday Night (after half time).  It also seems like the new normal is going to be unloading the semi on Sunday (this allows our driver to save some of his hours so he can work his regular job).  With that said, I’ve created Signup entries for all three (3) events (game, competition and unload on Sunday).  If we end up unloading on Saturday, even better, we get Sunday off.  Please pick the times/chores you’d like to help with, remember if you’re not comfortable with something heavy, please don’t let that stop you as we’ll find something for you even if it’s just encouragement for the rest of us.

Guys and Girls all are encouraged and welcome.

We’ll plan on wearing our show shirts.  If you don’t have one, the standard ADHS Band Shirt will be fine – don’t have one of those?  Something blue then.

Regards,
Rich Swirski

Mud Sweat and Uniforms

posted Oct 7, 2019, 4:19 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Oct 7, 2019, 4:19 AM ]

Band Families,
Due to field conditions last weekend and heat our uniforms are getting a little stinky and very dirty!  So, students need to take their uniform home to clean it for this weekend.  Very Important to Please follow Cleaning Instructions below:

Gloves, collars, socks, and bibs need to be washed.  Collars and gloves may need bleaching.  We want to keep everything clean, fresh smelling and mold free!  Please follow the cleaning instructions below.

*      GLOVES – Wash in any white load.  They can be sprayed or treated with a small amount of OxiClean or dishwashing liquid (a great degreaser for those of you who play a brass instrument) prior to washing.  Gloves can be machine dried or lay out flat to dry

*    COLLARS – Collars can be unsnapped and washed with gloves in any white load.  They can be sprayed or treated with a small amount of OxiClean prior to washing.  Lay out to dry or light dryer

*    JACKETS DO NOT WASH OR CLEAN - we dry clean them once per year.  Hang them outside in sun to air out.  Light Frebreze or light Lysol on the inside of the jacket is OK.

*    BIBS - zip, make sure pockets are empty and wash in any dark load (not with towels!).  They can be line dried or dried in the dryer (take them out immediately so they don't wrinkle).

*    BLACK SOCKS – provided by the student and washed regularly at home.

*    SHOES - wipe with a damp cloth or wet wipes.

*  UNIFORM BAGS can be aired outside and Lysol inside of bag.

REPAIRS (buttons, ripped bibs, etc.):  If you notice anything that might need our attention when you are cleaning your uniform, please let us know.  We want to make all the repairs in advance of next weekend's competition, so we aren’t scrambling at the last minute!

ALL UNIFORMS MUST BE RETURNED BY THURSDAY FOR FOOTBALL GAME & COMPETITION.
Please text or email us with any questions.  Thank you very much for helping your students look sharp and smellin' good!

Thank you,
Shayla and Your Uniform Committee

BBQ Update

posted Oct 6, 2019, 5:47 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Oct 6, 2019, 5:47 AM ]

Hi Band Families –

As you may have heard by now, we have postponed our annual Fall BBQ so as not to conflict with the Jag Club’s Homecoming event on October 11th which will also feature BBQ.

We’ve rescheduled for Friday, November 1st, which is now also a teacher workday. There’s no football game that night, so, hopefully, this date will work out well for many of you and we’re looking forward to it!

The event will be held at the same location as last year: Swift Creek Community Center, off Yates Mill Pond Rd.

We’ll need many volunteers and any help is greatly appreciated. Our sign-up link will be coming out this week, so keep an eye out for that.

We’re still in need of BBQ cookers/grills, so if you have one or can borrow one, please let us know ASAP! Also, if you’re able to help coordinate our presales to local businesses, ADHS teachers (since it’s a workday), and other area schools, please also reach out and let us know. Other volunteer opportunities will also be available, and we need you to be successful!

Thanks as always for your dedication and hard work!
