Great rehearsal last night.  We had some new faces show up to help fill in some holes.  Last rehearsal before the  Chamber Concert is next Wednesday at 7pm in the band room.  We could use a few trombones and trumpets. If you don’t play, that’s ok, send your kids!   Looks like the rhythm and sax sections are good to go. But there’s always room for more. We’re playing Hallelujah, I Just Love Her So by Ray Charles.  It’s an instrumental tune with some vocals added in.  Looking forward to the last rehearsal next week.  We had a great time last night and I expect next week to be even better!  See you next week!

Best regards,

Band Book--Updates on Orders/Ordering

posted Feb 11, 2019, 9:01 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Feb 11, 2019, 9:02 AM ]

Hi Band Families!

Thank you for your positive feedback in support of our unique Band yearbook!  Some of you are asking "Did I order one already?".  The best way to answer that question, is please click this link and see if you first have an account or not.  (You need an account to place an order!)

Since our yearbook is designed and sold entirely on-line, everything you need is through the Picaboo website.  That makes it easy for parent volunteers like me, we don't have to keep track of your orders.  It's all done automatically.

So, take a minute and click the link:  https://adhsband.picaboo.com/
Enter your password to sign-in and, if you aren't sure if you already ordered, put in a password you may have used or just tell the system you forgot your password.  Right away, it will indicate if you have an account or not.  Because, you need an account to place an order!  Once signed in, you can check if you have ordered your book or go ahead and place your order.  After that, don't forget to FINISH your 4 free personal pages before April 26!

Remember - BAND BOOSTER DOES NOT ODER EXTRAS - we will only print what you have personally ordered.  So...it's all up to you!  At $18 for a soft cover, with free shipping, why wouldn't you order this special yearbook?  Don't miss out!  :-)

Let me know if you have any questions about how to create an account or how to create your personal pages.  Or visit our Band Book page for a tutorial and other important details!

Thank you!

Did you know that Athens Drive Band has a photo gallery?  Parent photographers help take pictures at all our various band events and we upload them to one convenient site - SmugMug!  Visit often because more photos are added weekly - just because you saw it once doesn't mean there's more!

Our main gallery for 2018-2019 is found here:

Our Winter Percussion and Winter Guard are getting into full competition mode.  Winter Guard's latest is found here:

More from Winter Percussion coming soon!  And don't forget - our gallery also has videos!  To access any of our marching band videos, use the password "doc".  For Winter Guard videos, use "mason".  Winter Percussion will be "john".

Enjoy!

At this time we need students to clean out their uniform bags.  Please remove your show pins off your jacket and all your personal items like shoes, gloves, clothing or money.  Please be sure to take any trash or dirty socks out of your bag.  Also check your hat box and remove gloves or any other personal belongings.

After everyone has cleaned our their uniform bag we will disassemble uniforms and send them to be cleaned.

Adult Music Ensemble

posted Feb 4, 2019, 5:28 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Feb 4, 2019, 5:28 AM ]

All,
We have had 2 rehearsals since starting the ADHS Adult Music Ensemble.  Our rehearsals last from 7-8PM on Wednesdays in the band room.  So far we have had 3 saxophones, 2 flutes, a trombone, and 2 bass players.  We would love to have more participation.  Our goal is to put together a single song for the Chamber Concert on Thursday, 21 Feb.  Given our turnout, we are leaning toward small ensemble Jazz/RockDixie, but haven’t settled on a song yet.  We need a drummer, clarinet, tenor sax and some trumpet and trombone players to fill out what we have been playing.  That being said, anybody is welcome to show up and join in. We can’t have too many players!  We can always double up on a part.  if you would like to bring one of your school age players along, please do!  The more the merrier!  We are also looking for a female and male vocalist, as some of our songs we’ve played so far feature a vocalist.  Please come out this Wednesday and give us a try!

Best regards,
Mark Michaud

Scrip Orders Due Tuesday January 29

posted Jan 26, 2019, 6:15 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Jan 26, 2019, 6:15 AM ]

Hello Band Families!

Our next SCRIP order for physical gift cards is coming up on Tuesday, January 29th!  Please submit your order by Tuesday at midnight.  The order should be ready for pick up at the band booster meeting Tuesday, February 5th.

For your reference, here are the next few order dates...
Saturday, March 9
Tuesday, April 30

Remember that this is for physical gift cards.  ScripNow e-gift cards can be ordered at any time.  Please note that PrestoPay is the easiest way to pay for your scrip orders. Let me know if you need help setting this up. If you selected to pay by check, your checks need to be delivered to me by Oct 28th or your order will not be placed.  There is a shipping charge that is split between all the order families.  It is usually around $1.

**************************************************************************

Why am I so passionate about the Scrip program?  Is it because the band program makes money off of your Scrip purchases?  No!  100% of the rebates go directly into YOUR band account.  I  encourage all band families to use Scrip because I know the real value of the program.  You can easily make hundreds of dollars every year for your band account!  If you want more information about how to effectively use Scrip to earn big $$, contact me and I'll be happy to help.

ARE YOU NEW TO THE IDEA OF SCRIP??  READ ON!

Scrip cards (and grocery cards) are the only band fundraisers that put your every day spending dollars to work – FREE MONEY!!!  This email contains information about the Scrip Program and how it can positively change the balance on your band account.  Also attached is a flyer that has information about the SCRIP program and some helpful hints and tips for using the program and placing orders.

WHAT IS SCRIP?
Great Lakes Scrip Center offers gift cards to over 700 of the country’s biggest brands, including grocery, department stores, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, home improvement, and more. Just by using Scrip to pay for your normal purchases, you can easily bank money to your student band account. It’s time to put your shopping dollars to work! A complete listing of participating companies is available at www.shopwithscrip.com.

HOW DOES IT WORK?  Scrip cards are regular gifts cards that you purchase at face value.  The retailer then gives a rebate, usually between 2%-14% of the face value, directly into YOUR band account.  For example, if you purchased a $100 Belk gift card, you pay $100 for the card and have $100 to spend at Belk.  Then Belk donates 8% ($8.00) to your band account.  Free Money!  You will be amazed and astounded at how quickly it adds up simply by spending money “differently” through Scrip

WHAT TYPE OF GIFT CARDS ARE AVAILABLE?  Scrip has three different options for purchasing gift cards.  Many companies offer all 3 gift card options but the options available vary by company.

1. Physical Gift Cards:  We order these as a Band group once a month.  You order these cards online any time during the month then a Band group order is submitted, typically a week before our monthly band parent meetings.  You can either pay for your cards at the time of ordering using the PrestoPay service or by delivering a check prior to the group order placement.  See below for details on payment methods.  You will receive an email about one week in advance of order placement as a reminder.  A few days later we receive the group’s gift cards and distribute them to you, usually at the monthly Band Booster meeting.  Physical gift cards are great for gifts or for planned (and controlled) spending.

2. ScripNow E-Card:  Make purchases online or at a physical store or have a meal at a restaurant but hop over to the Scrip website before you pay.  Buy a ScripNow gift card with PrestoPay to use as payment for your purchases.  These cards are available for you to use within minutes of purchase.

3. Reload:  With re-loadable physical gift cards, you have the flexibility to add money to the gift card anytime using PrestoPay!  These gift cards work well for places you regularly shop.  Note that not all physical gift cards are reloadable.  You will know it's reloadable if the Reload option is available.

GETTING STARTED:  Set up your own personal account at www.shopwithscrip.com and link to the Athens Drive Band Boosters with the enrollment code 3BDECC2F2L1L.  Feel free to contact me if you have problems and I will help you through the process.

PAYMENT METHODS:
PrestoPay:  This is the preferred and easiest method of payment.  It is Scrip's secure service to purchase gift cards by using funds directly from your bank account.  Set up PrestoPay from your Scrip account on the www.shopwithscrip.com website.
Check:  Make your check out to ADHS Band Boosters and deliver it to Carol before the order date to be included in the monthly order

CURRENT SPECIALS:  In addition to offering great contributions on every day gift cards, Scrip runs specials and flash sales on a regular basis.  This means that a retailer's usual rebate percentage is temporarily increased.  For example, The Gap may increase it's normal rebate of 14% to 18%.  Also, a few times a year, Scrip has a ThankScripping Day.  This is a day where many, many retailers have increased rebates for that day only.  Take advantage of these specials!  Even if you don’t “need” anything right now, you can purchase cards ahead of time that you know you will use in the future.  Set up your Scrip account so that you receive email alerts for active specials.  Check out the "What's New" tab to see all the recent listings.

Any questions, please send to scrip@athensdriveband.com

Happy Scripping!
