A Year of Band Memories!

posted Apr 1, 2020, 4:21 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Apr 1, 2020, 4:22 AM ]

Hello Band Families,

I hope this email finds you all safe at home with your loved ones. Although so much in our lives has been disrupted, we also find ourselves living at a much slower pace.  There's more time for family and home projects and for missing our dear friends at school and band!   What was your favorite memory from band?  Was it band camp or home games?  Something from Winter Guard or Winter Percussion?  Or performing at the holiday concert?  Hope it makes you smile too thinking of all the fun and friends from our year of band!

We have been collecting memories such as these in our SmugMug gallery - with photos and videos throughout the year.  Be sure to visit our 2019-2020 gallery here:

If you like a photo, you can download it - free - as many as you like!  Which is a great idea - because the Band Yearbook is soon going to print.  You are getting this email to remind you it's time to order the Band Yearbook - don't miss out getting your copy of a year's worth of band memories!  Visit our Band Book page to click the link to order:
  • Don't forget to finish your 2 PERSONAL pages - just for your book!!
  • SIGN YOUR FRIENDS YEARBOOK - directly on Treering - and it will print to their book! (Send a photo or sticker when you "sign" a friends yearbook!  Visit: to learn more!)
  • Books may be shipped direct to your home for $2.99 - depending on our expected return to school. Correctly, we are still set up to receive free bulk shipping to school.  If this changes, I will let you know.
And finally, if you find that you have some free time - I could use your help finalizing our book.  Many band parents have helped organize a page or two.  I still need your help - we have so many great pictures and pages!  So this is a shout-out to our seniors as well as our band parents, can you help put the finishing touches on this exceptional year?  Please email me at and let me know!

We will see each other again soon!!

Red Hat Amphitheater Training

posted Mar 20, 2020, 4:56 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Mar 20, 2020, 4:57 AM ]

Band Families interested in working at Red Hat Amphitheater this spring,

The first show at Red Hat Amphitheater in downtown Raleigh is scheduled for 4/29 and additional training to work in this venue is mandatory. At this time they are planning to move forward with the scheduled trainings at the end of the month. The only two sessions they have scheduled are 3/25 at 6 pm and 3/29 at 2:30.  They are having these trainings in a large room so that people can be 6 feet apart as recommended, and the room will be sanitized before and after trainings. They may have to limit them as well, based on the latest recommendations, to 10 people. I don’t know that for a fact, but just in case, let me know ASAP if you are interested, via text or emailing

Thanks and be well,

PARCC - Red Hat Amphitheater Training

posted Mar 8, 2020, 7:33 AM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Mar 8, 2020, 7:34 AM ]

I’m forwarding a message from Centerplate concessions regarding training for the Red Hat Amphitheater season which is quickly approaching. The training is mandatory if you wish to work at Red Hat and the opportunities to take the training are limited. We are currently in negotiations to have a stand of our own this season, providing we can commit 3 or 4 parents or family members (aged 21 and up) to each show.

If you’d like to take the training, please email me directly at . Please DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL as I will not receive it as quickly and as I mentioned, the dates are limited and the training has begun. If we can commit enough people to take the training, having a stand in Red Hat Amphitheater could be VERY good for marching band this summer!

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Elizabeth Strohm
ADHS Marching Band PARCC Coordinator

Note from Centerplate: Any questions or replies - please send to

The 2020 Amphitheater season is quickly approaching with our opening day set for 4/29/20 and it's that time of year to begin going over our training procedures.  This year, we will be switching up how we administer training; however, most of the the material will be the same as years passed. It is a requirement that everyone completes training, and you will not be allowed to work at the amphitheater if this training is not completed. You will be allowed to do a portion of the training at home. The other portion must be completed at the Raleigh Convention Center, instructed by a supervisor.

The following (attached) modules are allowed to be done at home:
  1. Concessions
  2. Employee and Food Safety
  3. Extraordinary Customer Service
All quizzes, and certificates, must be filled out and signed in all slots. Please bring these completed modules with you to the mandatory training sessions at the convention center and be sure to sign in for the on-site training.
The modules that we require you to be present for are:
  1. Responsible Alcohol Service (RAS)
  2. TIPS Training (If expired or new-hire/NPO)
The Responsible Alcohol Service (RAS) module is going to cover all of Centerplate's and North Carolina's policies regarding the service and management of alcohol. We will also utilize everyone coming in to go over overall operations such as where to sign in, parking, uniforms, etc. We estimate that this will take up to 1.5 hours to cover. After this module has concluded, those with TIPS certifications that are not expired will be allowed to leave. Those in need of their TIPS certifications/needing to renew their certification must stick around for an additional 1 - 1.5 hours to go through the course and take the test. I have attached a list of people who, on our records, have expired for each group.

Feel to wear casual attire and parking is at the Marriott Underground Deck and we will reimburse with chaser tickets. Here are the dates/times/locations we will be holding these training sessions:
2/23 2:30pm – Meeting Room 206
3/2 6:00pm – Meeting Room 304
3/8 2:30pm – Meeting Room 304
3/15 2:30pm – Meeting Room 203
3/22 2:30pm –  Meeting Room 303
3/25 6:00pm –  Meeting Room 303
3/29 2:30pm –  Meeting Room 307

Please send myself and Jordan ( all requests for slots. We will be inputting all requests onto this sheet for referencing:

We will also be announcing dates for Stand Manager Training. This training will go over proper inventory, cash handling, and best practices to successfully manage a concession stand and meet all of our corporate standards. All are welcome to attend and we will send the dates of these classes next week.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions/comments/concerns. I greatly appreciate all of your hard work in advance and look forward to another successful season. More information will be coming soon.

Hi Athens Drive Band Families and Friends,

If you would like to see what the Winter Guard has been working on
this season with their First Place show "String Theory" you can find
their videos through the Winter Guard Video Links page:
Use 'mason' to see their spectacular show.

The Winter Percussion group is also busy this season with their award
winning show "Boxed In":
'john' gets you in.

Looking for a special keepsake or gift of these memorable events?
Order an "Everything Else" DVD.  It features the upcoming Koka Booth
and MPA performance of the Wind Ensemble, the Winter Guard and Winter
Percussion AIA finals as well as key highlights from the 2019 Marching
Band season including the Memorial Day Parade in DC.

If you are suffering from a more serious Marching Band Season
withdrawal that highlights won't cure, don't forget about our 3 DVD
set of the "Weather the Weather" marching band show with a number of
special featurettes including a behind the scenes peek in Band Camp.
Enjoy five days of fun and rehearsals in 5 minutes.  The set is being
prepared for delivery by the end of March.

Email us at if you have questions or wish to
place an order.  Order forms will also be available outside the
auditorium at the Festival concerts.  If you have placed orders for
previous concerts up to the Holiday Concert, you should have already
received them through your student.

Band Yearbook 2019-2020 Can You Help?

posted Jan 13, 2020, 12:13 PM by Athens Drive High School Band   [ updated Jan 13, 2020, 12:14 PM ]

Hello Band Families and Students!

The Band Yearbook is in production and slowly turning into a great photo collection of all our band events - from Marching Band to concert events to Winter Guard and Percussion (and then some!).

Our book must be ready for print by mid-April and to help with this process, I always ask students and parents if they can help create a page in the book.  It is all done online using Treering and very easy (and I will double check everyone's pages - so don't worry about making a mistake).  What you contribute will be printed as part of the finished yearbook - to be viewed and enjoyed by everyone!  But don't forget, if you order a yearbook - you still have your own "personal pages" to design anyway you like :-)

If you are interested in helping, email me at:

Just like last year, I will coordinate a "training" session for any that need it or want to work on their pages together.  We have met at NC State, which we can do again, and you will just need to bring your laptop, power adapter and sense of fun!  Or you can create your page from the comfort of your own home!

Oh - and if you haven't ordered your yearbook yet...why wait?  Here's the link on how to place your order:

Hope to hear from you soon.  Thank you for any help you can provide!
